HELP! With Homecoming

WE NEED HOMECOMING HELP!!

Unfortunately, we’ve gotten minimal response so far in our call our for volunteers for homecoming dance chaperones & snack support, as well as our call for volunteers to assist with selling 50/50 Raffle tickets the game. (Thanks to those who’ve already volunteered!)

So we’re trying a new method… in the comments are Sign Up Genius links:

October Update – Our Plans & Needs

Hello Edmonds Woodway Families & Supporters. The 2024-25 year is off to a fast start and we’re looking forward to a great year. The PSO (Parent Staff Organization) met a couple weeks ago to discuss our plans for the year, approve a budget and do some housekeeping.

Our 2024-25 Plans

The mission of the PSO is to support the students & staff with time, energy and resources to provide the best education and a sense of connection and community to last a lifetime.

Support For Vulnerable Students – we help students facing food & housing insecurity, communication and other barriers to education stay connected to our school and on the path to academic success & graduation. Working with the District, Foundation for Edmonds School District, Washington Kids In Transition and other local organizations we multiply our impact through grants and other collaboration to provide food, housing, tutoring and other resources.

Classroom & Activity Grants – the school funding crisis is felt directly in our classrooms, limiting tools & resources which enrich education from new books to supplies to field trips. The PSO provides grant funding for these needs with grants directly to teachers & staff. In addition, we work with student groups seeking fundraising to help get the tools they need, as well as attend regional or national competitions or events.

Community Building – we host events to help build the EW community including:

  • Kickoff BBQ/Taco Night for students, staff & parents
  • Quarterly Staff Appreciation
  • Parent Resource Nights – this year we are planning to host several parent resource nights providing expert advice & resources for college funding, teen driving, mental health and other common issues facing parents of teens.

What We Need? You!

Of course, no one succeeds alone… and this is especially true of a high school parent group. Unfortunately, the pandemic and remote school reduced a vibrant, active EW PSO to a core group of a handful of dedicated, passionate volunteers with great intentions but not enough hours in the day to make the difference our students, staff and school truly needs.

While our Athletic & Music Boosters are thriving, the PSO is struggling to gain momentum after the pandemic, and we need:

Your Time & Energy…

If you are passionate about making EW the best school in the region, we want to work with you in whatever way works best for you:
In The School or At In Person Events
Remote with Communications, Tech or Project Coordination
Writing Grants & Fundraising

Your Ideas…

How can we improve the experience for our students, staff & parents? Our success depends on your compelling ideas & initiative.

Your Generosity & Connections…

And at times, we’ll need financial support to help with funding the tools, resources and opportunities for our students, or your connections who may be able to provide value in kind donations & contributions.

Want to Get Involved?

Please let us know by completing this form to tell us more about you, your interests and how we can work with you to make a difference for our students.

THANK YOU!

If you’ve read this far down… thank you. Genuinely, thank you. In our current fast paced world hanging in there this far is rare, and I appreciate you and your interest in making EW the best it can be. If now isn’t the right time for you to help, please continue to stay tuned to our progress and join us when you are able.

With gratitude & appreciation from our PSO Board,

Jamie Reece

Volunteers for Homecoming Raffle

The PSO needs 4-6 volunteers to help us promote and sell 50/50 raffle tickets during the upcoming Homecoming football game against Shorewood on Friday October 18th.

We’re asking volunteers to arrive around 430p to help get setup and trained on selling tickets, and to stay through at least the 3rd quarter of the game to sell tickets.

No experience necessary… we’ll get you everything you need.

Email us if you’re able to help: EWHSPSOPresident@Gmail.com

PSAT Volunteers Needed

Edmonds Woodway is hosting a PSAT exam for Juniors on Wednesday, October 30 and is in need of parents of volunteers for test monitoring. The test is being held from 7 AM to 12 PM and the ideal volunteer is able to cover this entire shift, however if needed volunteers can cover a portion of this time.

Volunteers need to complete the Edmonds School District screening by completing this form prior to the event (takes about 5 minutes and is good for 1 year of volunteering at any school in the District – if you’ve already completed it please let us know).

Please email us if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions.
