For those bringing snacks, please drop them off at the main office anytime before 2pm on Friday, October 18th with a label “Homecoming Dance 2024”.***

Homecoming is around the corner on Saturday, October 19, and Olivia Bianco, EWHS Staff ASB Coordinator, is looking for five volunteers who can provide snacks, help with set up and chaperone the dance.

The Dance is from 8:30 to 10:30pm and volunteers are asked to arrive about 30-45 minutes prior to the start of the dance. Volunteers are asked to bring snacks such as wrapped rice crispy treats, fruit snacks, goldfish, chips, Oreos, Costco cookies, brownies and/or water bottles. Please no juice or soda.

Looking for about 4 to 6 volunteers for this event. They will need to complete the Edmonds School District screening by completing this form prior to the event (takes about 5 minutes and is good for 1 year of volunteering at any school in the District).

Education Funding Crisis Town Hall

The Edmonds School District is stepping up to address the ongoing education funding crisis by partnering with educators and leaders from the Northshore and Shoreline school districts. Together, they are organizing the Education Funding Crisis Town Hall, a crucial event scheduled for Wednesday, October 23rd, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Edmonds-Woodway High School (7600 212th St. S.W., Edmonds).

What’s at Stake?

This town hall aims to shed light on the pressing issue of underfunding in K-12 education across Washington State. The event will build on the dialogue initiated last year between school district leaders and Washington State legislators. With persistent budget shortfalls continuing to affect local districts, schools, and most importantly, students, the conversation has never been more urgent.

Engage with Your Lawmakers

Lawmakers representing the 1st, 21st, 32nd, 44th, and 45th legislative districts have been invited to the town hall, with many already confirming their attendance. This presents a unique opportunity for attendees to hear directly from their representatives about potential solutions to the funding crisis.

Why Attend?

Attendees will gain valuable insights into the root causes of K-12 underfunding and its real-world impacts on education quality. More importantly, they will have the chance to engage in meaningful conversations with their legislators, advocating for the financial resources necessary to support students and schools.

Be Part of the Solution

The town hall is open to the public, and community involvement is critical to driving change. By attending, you can contribute to the conversation and help push for the funding reforms needed to ensure that Washington State students receive the education they deserve.

Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard and help shape the future of education in our region.

Restocking Family Advocate Pantry

1 in every 25 students in Edmonds School District is presently enduring housing or food insecurity

These students may not know where next meal will come from or where they’ll be sleeping tomorrow. This uncertainty results in enormous stress which can result in pressure to drop out from school or inability to maintain grades which contributes further to challenges these students face.

Our EWHS Family Resource Advocate is a critical resource for these students and their families in their journey to find stability and build a better future. Through their efforts students are provided with a wide variety of resources from food, housing assistance and much more.

One of the most used resources is the Advocate’s Pantry which stocks snacks, non-perishable meals and other important staples for students to pick up as they need them. However, each year, after not being replenished over the Summer, the Pantry starts off empty and our Advocate relies on the support of our community to help fill the shelves.

If you’d like to help restock the Family Resource Advocate Pantry with critical supplies, please consider purchasing on or more items on their Amazon Wishlist.
