Volunteer Screening

Volunteers make a huge difference in our school though there is one critical step you can take to ensure a smooth path to volunteering:

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIRED
For the safety of students and staff, the Edmonds School District requires all volunteers working with students on campus or during school or district sponsored events receive approval from their background screening system.

The screening process is quick and easy, and your approval is valid for 12 months regardless of when you received it – so if you receive it in February, it will be good as you enter the following academic year in September.

Currently Approved?
If your screening is completed and current, you may consider emailing a copy of your badge to the staff member, coach or volunteer organizer coordinating the event to help them save time. However, if it isn’t at your fingertips, feel free to let them know your approval is current and they can look it up in the system with your name and other details.

Not Sure of Status? Looking For Your Badge?
The easiest way we know to find it is searching your email account for “SafeVisitor” (use the quotations). Using this search most people easily find their past emails from the screening company including their approvals and badge.

Need to Be Screened?
Complete this form ideally a minimum of 5* days prior to the event. The form takes about 5 minutes to complete, and you’ll see confirmation and results quickly. Once you receive approval & badge please forward them to your volunteer point of contact for your event.

(*The District states screening can take up to 2 weeks, however many find it takes less than 2 days to receive approval. That said, there can be questions and/or clarifications needed, so starting early will ensure you do not miss an event due to processing delays.)
